Father Rehrl’s Rectory & Exhibit Open

 Thursday, August 7 12 pm-2 pm Built in 1856, it was here that the Sisters of St. Agnes managed one of the first schools in Washington County, educating children of all denominations. Within the fieldstone rectory of Father Caper Rehrl, the exhibit “From Mound Builders to Church Builders” highlights the triumph of survival over inexperience on the unsettled Wisconsin frontier. No charge.

Pioneer Kids Day “Trappers & Traders”

Event Date: Thursday, August 14, 2014
Location: Old Courthouse Museum, 320 S. 5th Ave, West Bend

Children in 1st through 5th grades are invited to learn all about the animals and people of the French Fur trade era. Sing French songs, learn how to make a fire with flint and steel, discover the animals of the fur trade with a naturalist from Kettle Moraine State Forest Pike Lake Unit, make and play a trading game, enjoy a period snack, and more! $6/child before Aug 1. $7/child Aug 1 & after. It’s in the Details: Architecture Tour & Trip to Tower

Event Date: Wednesday, November 05, 2014
Location: Old Courthouse Museum, 320 S. 5th Ave, West Bend

7 pm – 8:30 pm Celebrate the 125th birthday of the old Washington County Courthouse during this new special guided tour. Discover architectural details, learn the meanings behind the symbolism, and trace the construction of this local and national landmark. Climb to the balcony level of the tower and see features rarely seen by the public. Patrons must wear sensable shoes and be able to climb steep stairs (109 steps from 1st to 6th floor). $8/WCHS members, $15/non-member. Due to very limited space, advanced payment is required.
